Prevalence and predictors of asthma, tuberculosis and chronic bronchitis among male tannery workers: A study of Kanpur City, India

AbstractBackground In India, it was reported previously about varying prevalence of asthma and chronic bronchitis among leather tannery workers with moderate to high exposures at the workplace be significantly associated asthma. This study intended estimate asthma, tuberculosis, identify risk factors it. Data Methods The data used in this were collected through a cross-sectional household survey 284 male Jajmau area Kanpur city state Uttar Pradesh, during January–June 2015. A binary logistic regression analysis performed respiratory symptoms. Results Asthma Chronic Bronchitis Tannery 12.3% 11.6% which is higher as compared non-tannery workers. findings revealed that symptoms suggestive long time working harms health, are more likely suffering from who worked above 11 years (p < 0.62).
